Businessmen Submit Legal Appeal to Ministry of Justice

A group of Sudanese businessmen has submitted an appeal to the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice challenging the formation of the Sudanese Businessmen and Employers Federation’s preparatory committee, citing alleged irregularities in its establishment.
The businessmen called on the Undersecretary to urgently halt the implementation of the decision issued by the Registrar General of Labor Organizations, which approved the formation of the preparatory committee, pending the final decision on the submitted appeal. They argued that implementing the decision before the appeal is reviewed could result in irreparable harm.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Commercial Chamber member Moawia Aba Yazid stated that the appealed decision is likely invalid due to its violation of the 1992 Employers’ Organizations Act, asserting that the Registrar overstepped his legal authority and has no mandate to form a preparatory committee from an executive office whose term has ended.
They expressed confidence that the Ministry of Justice will give the matter the attention it deserves and anticipated that the Undersecretary would take necessary precautionary steps to suspend the decision until the appeal is resolved.
The Registrar General of Labor Organizations at the Ministry of Justice, Counselor Amna Al-Sadiq Kabbir, had earlier approved the conversion of the 2018–2022 executive office of the Employers Federation into a preparatory committee to carry out the Federation’s executive functions.
