Currency Exchange to Begin in Al-Jazirah Next August

The High Committee for Currency Change and Replacement held a meeting chaired by Sovereignty Council Member and Assistant Commander-in-Chief, Lieutenant General Engineer Ibrahim Jabir, with the presence of the Attorney General.
The meeting discussed arrangements for the currency replacement process in Al-Jazirah State, scheduled for August, following assurances regarding the readiness of banks operating in the state and the logistical, security, and technical preparations, particularly the opening of bank accounts for citizens and simplifying related procedures.
The meeting also reviewed the progress of the supervisory committee of the Emergency Operations Room and listened to submitted reports.
Sumaya Al-Hadi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture and Information, stated that the meeting received a report on the bank network linkage process, which has been completed by 77%, noting that progress is in line with the planned timeline.
She added that the Central Bank of Sudan confirmed the completion of all arrangements related to the currency replacement and electronic payment processes in Al-Jazirah State, with over 66% of the state’s banks now ready.
