Adawi Meets Business Leaders to Discuss Reconstruction Contributions

Sudan’s Ambassador to Egypt, Lieutenant General Engineer Imad Al-Din Mustafa Adawi, received a delegation from the Sudanese Businessmen’s Union and a group of businesspeople at the embassy headquarters in Cairo.
The meeting was attended by Lieutenant General Yasser Mohamed Othman, Director of the General Administration of Border Crossings and Points, Ambassador Omar Al-Farouq Sid Kamal, Deputy Head of Sudan’s Diplomatic Mission to Egypt, and several diplomats from the embassy.
Ambassador Adawi expressed his pleasure with the initiative by the union and Sudanese business leaders, praising the business sector’s supportive stance in the “Dignity Battle” and their backing of the state across various institutions. He reaffirmed the embassy’s appreciation for their ongoing support in mobilizing resources for the reconstruction phase.
The ambassador provided a briefing on the embassy’s vision to improve the quality of its services, especially consular ones, by enhancing responsiveness through digital gateway projects and ensuring the efficient and high-quality delivery of services in line with the mission’s forward-looking strategies approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He reiterated that the mission is focusing on revitalizing the economic file and exploring all promising opportunities and sectors that can contribute to strengthening the economic system and driving reconstruction forward.
Ambassador Adawi presented a visual presentation outlining the mission’s economic plan within the general directives and its comprehensive strategic vision. It included potential areas for bilateral cooperation with Egypt and multilateral frameworks such as the Arab League and its specialized agencies, as well as non-resident accredited countries.
He emphasized the need for continued coordination between the mission and the Businessmen’s Union to explore more commercial and economic opportunities between Sudan and Egypt. He confirmed the mission’s support in facilitating the work of Sudanese businesspeople in Egypt and praised the active coordination between the embassy and both the Egyptian Commercial Representation Authority and the General Authority for Investment at Egypt’s Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade.
Lieutenant General Yasser Mohamed Othman reassured attendees about the ongoing plans to rehabilitate all border crossings and points as required, affirming that the coming period will see an enhanced role for these crossings in facilitating trade between Sudan and neighboring countries.
Ambassador Adawi praised Sudan’s partnership with the Arab League and Arab joint institutions, emphasizing that such collaboration supports the reconstruction process.
He confirmed that the embassy is following up on the Arab Transport Ministers Council’s decision at its 37th session, which tasked the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport with studying the establishment of logistics zones on Sudan’s borders. He noted that the academy has completed the study, which will be submitted at the Council’s 38th session at the end of this year.
The delegation from the union and business community commended the embassy’s efforts in facilitating their work in Egypt and ensuring greater contributions to the reconstruction process. They affirmed that the upcoming period will witness further coordination and collaboration with the embassy through a series of economic events addressing national reconstruction priorities.
