Interior Minister: The Next Stage Is the Return and Rebuilding of Institutions

The Minister of Interior, Police Lt. Gen. (Legal) Babiker Samrah Mustafa, visited the headquarters of the Customs Forces in central Khartoum. He was received by Police Lt. Gen. Salah Ahmed Ibrahim, Director General of the Customs Forces, along with senior customs officers.

The visit included an inspection tour of the Brigadier Abdoon Sayed Ahmed Medical Complex and the Customs Forces headquarters. The minister reviewed the ongoing rehabilitation efforts and improvements to the work environment and praised the progress made despite exceptional circumstances.

Following the tour, a briefing session was held with the participation of customs leadership. The Director General of the Customs Forces welcomed the Minister’s visit, describing it as a strong morale booster and a sign of the ministry’s support for all its units. He provided a comprehensive update on operations, recovery plans, and performance.

The Minister emphasized that his visit aimed to monitor field performance and closely assess the challenges facing ministry personnel. He stated that the Customs Forces, like other branches of the ministry, have remained steadfast and continue to operate with dedication.

He explained that the coming phase is about restoring the forces to their positions and rebuilding institutions affected by systematic destruction. He stressed that all ministry branches are working with a strong national spirit to overcome the impact of war and resume services across all areas.

He also sent a message to citizens inside and outside the country, confirming that the Ministry of Interior is moving forward into the third phase: restoring key services such as passports, civil registration, traffic services, and customs. He noted that new service centers will be opened in Omdurman, Khartoum, and East Nile, with the Omdurman Public Services Complex set to begin operations soon.

The Minister also praised the efforts at the Brigadier Abdoon Medical Complex, considering it a notable initiative reflecting the Customs Forces’ social responsibility and commitment to public service.

He concluded that although the coming stage presents serious challenges, they can be overcome through the determination and will of the ministry’s personnel.
