Government Commitment to Protecting Public Funds

Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening oversight systems to protect public funds and reinforce the Ministry of Finance’s authority over them. He emphasized the importance of the Internal Audit Bureau in overseeing the performance of national government agencies in accordance with laws and oversight regulations, applying transparency to help unit heads make sound decisions that support goal achievement.
During his meeting on Tuesday with Dr. Hagar Mohamed Ahmed, Director-General of the Bureau, and department heads at the ministry complex, the minister promised to support internal auditors in ways that ensure their independence and protect their rights. He affirmed his backing of the bureau so it can perform its duties effectively and strengthen coordination with the National Audit Chamber to save time and effort.
The minister stressed the importance of activating internal audit security systems to ensure information safety. He approved the bureau leadership’s proposals, which include completing legislation to support internal auditing, activating articles of the 2023 Miscellaneous Amendments Law concerning financial oversight, expanding internal audit coverage across all government institutions, recognizing audit personnel as essential participants in building the country’s financial systems, developing auditing capabilities, and aligning with the state’s digital transformation goals.
