Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Final: Nigeria Stun Morocco in Dramatic Comeback

Morocco’s Women’s National Team were left heartbroken after Nigeria overturned a two-goal deficit to claim a thrilling 3–2 win and capture the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title on Saturday.
Morocco captain Ghizlane Chebbak gave her side the lead in the 12th minute with a powerful strike from the edge of the box—her fifth goal of the tournament, earning her the Golden Boot.
Sanaa Mssoudy doubled the lead in the 24th minute with a low shot from inside the box after a defensive error.
But Nigeria roared back in the second half. Esther Okoronkwo converted a penalty in the 64th minute to narrow the gap, then set up Florence Ijehgameliusi’s equalizer in the 71st minute with a pass from inside the area.
With just two minutes left, substitute Jennifer Echegini sealed the win for Nigeria by pouncing on a free kick taken by Esther from midfield, controlling it inside the box and firing home.
Nigeria lifted their 10th continental title, while Morocco missed out on a historic first after reaching the final for a second consecutive time, having lost the previous edition to South Africa.
