Minister of Industry and Trade Welcomes Saudi Investments in Sugar Industry
Minister of Industry and Trade, Mahasin Ali Yagoub, has affirmed the strong relations, closeness, and sentiments that bind Sudan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, noting that the Kingdom is Sudan’s largest trading partner.
This came during a meeting at her office on Monday with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Range Limited and Executive Member of the Sudanese-Saudi Business Council, Ahmed bin Hassan Al-Sahbi, and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of the Director General of the Sudanese Sugar Company, Jad Al-Rab Khalid.
The Mahasin expressed the government of Sudan’s appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its supportive stance towards Sudan in all fields, noting that the meeting represents a step in the right direction to strengthen communication between Sudan and Saudi Arabia, advancing strategic relations.
The Minister briefed the Saudi delegation on Sudan’s potential in agricultural and animal resources production, as well as its mineral resources, which attract foreign investment, particularly from the Arab world, given the encouraging and flexible laws that encourage investment.
Saudi businessmen were invited to enter into partnerships with Sudan in industries related to agricultural and livestock production, with priority given to rebuilding the industrial sector, particularly the sugar industry and related industries, given Sudan’s preferential advantages in this field.
Ahmed Al-Sahbi affirmed their sincere desire to invest in Sudan, particularly in the sugar industry, and to engage into a partnership with the Sudanese Sugar Company to rehabilitate and rebuild sugar factories and increase production, achieving self-sufficiency and exporting. He noted that the factors for success are in place.
Al-Sahbi explained that this comes within the context of the Kingdom’s efforts to expand its foreign investment base, particularly with Sudan, with full support from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman, and his Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
