Kamil Idris: The Hope Government Is Determined to Revitalize Agriculture

Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris affirmed the Hope Government’s determination to revitalize the agricultural sector and make it the engine of the economy. He pointed to the country’s vast capabilities and natural resources, which could place Sudan at the forefront of agricultural nations if properly utilized.

This came during his meeting on Wednesday in his office in Port Sudan with the Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Ismat Qureshi. He stated that the government would provide all necessary support to make the agricultural sector successful and internationally competitive.

In press statements, Ismat Qureshi said the meeting addressed the overall situation of the agriculture and irrigation sector, noting that he presented his upcoming phase work plan to the Prime Minister.

He added that he submitted proposals to address issues related to agricultural financing, and that the Prime Minister stressed the need for coordinated efforts between farmers, relevant government agencies, commercial banks, and the Central Bank. These efforts aim to implement the government’s plans to develop the agricultural sector.
