Former Importers’ Chamber Official: Economy in Its Worst Condition

Sudan Events – Rehab

Former Treasurer of the National Importers’ Chamber, Hashim Al-Fadil, said the revival of Sudan’s economic activity hinges on restarting the production wheel, including agriculture, industry, and other productive sectors, stressing that without this, recovery will be impossible.

Al-Fadil stated that the Sudanese economy is in its worst condition, noting that most private-sector institutions have lost the majority of their capital. Restarting these institutions, he explained, requires collective efforts to secure support from international development and financing institutions.

He urged business owners and Sudanese financiers to set aside politics and political polarization, and to work as a united front.

He added that the key to restarting the economy is food production—agricultural and livestock in particular—pointing out that recovery could begin through the resumption of small-scale and artisanal industries.
