Finance Minister Pledges to Address Humanitarian Crisis in South Kordofan

Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Dr. Jibril Ibrahim has pledged to work to address the deteriorating humanitarian and health situation, as well as the cash shortage faced by residents of Kadugli and Dilling in South Kordofan, due to the siege imposed by the SPLM–al-Hilu faction and the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
During a meeting on Monday with the state’s Deputy Governor Abdul Rahman Daldoum Shillo, the minister vowed to coordinate with relevant government agencies and UN organizations to carry out urgent relief operations, including air-dropping food and medicine. He also said he would seek to secure cash support from aid agencies until a permanent solution can be reached by lifting the siege and reopening the state’s main roads and humanitarian corridors.
The deputy governor provided a detailed briefing on the state’s conditions and the worsening humanitarian crisis in Kadugli and Dilling, which have been under siege for two years, with no access to basic services such as health care, water, electricity, and communications. He expressed hope that the federal government would meet the urgent needs of the state.
