Standards Authority Carries Out Comprehensive Fuel Meter Inspection in Red Sea State

The Measurement and Calibration Unit of the Sudanese Standards and Metrology Organization (SSMO) – Red Sea Sector has conducted a comprehensive calibration campaign targeting fuel meters and scales used in retail and distribution operations. The move is part of the authority’s ongoing efforts to ensure accurate measurements and protect consumers.

The campaign included the calibration and sealing of 40 fuel meters at company-owned depots, 19 mobile tanker meters, and 27 gas cylinder filling scales.

Red Sea Sector Director, Waleed Mohamed Othman, said the initiative is part of the authority’s strategy to instill a culture of technical compliance and enhance reliability in commercial transactions. He praised the cooperation of depot owners and fuel and gas companies, emphasizing the role of calibration in improving service quality.

Khalifa Mohamed Othman, Head of the Measurement and Calibration Department, stated that these activities are carried out as part of a regular work plan aimed at verifying the safety and accuracy of measurement devices to safeguard consumer rights and strengthen market confidence.
