Lieutenant General Engineer Ibrahim Jaber Ibrahim, member of the Sovereignty Council and deputy commander-in-chief, chaired a meeting on Tuesday of the committee tasked with relocating government facilities and strategic sites from central Khartoum to alternative locations within Khartoum State.
Major General Dr. Mohamed Al-Ghali Ali Youssef, who heads the committee, said a final report was submitted recommending the transfer of ministries and government institutions to substitute premises. He noted that all concerned bodies will be instructed to take the necessary implementation measures.
The committee decided to clear out central Khartoum—stretching from Nile Street in the north to Al-Qurashi Garden in the south, and from Al-Mogran in the west to the General Command in the east— with the aim of redesigning the area on a modern urban basis.
It further recommended initiating the establishment of a new administrative capital.
