Washington: Committed to Supporting Peace Dialogue in Sudan

The U.S. State Department affirmed America’s commitment to supporting dialogue aimed at achieving peace and ending the suffering of the Sudanese people.

Responding to a question from Egypt’s Al-Shorouk newspaper regarding recent reports of a meeting in Switzerland between Sudanese Sovereignty Council Chairman, Army Chief Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and U.S. Presidential Advisor for African Affairs Masad Pauls, the State Department stated in writing: “We do not discuss our diplomatic talks.”

The Department explained that Washington continues to communicate with parties and their representatives through various diplomatic channels and reiterated: “We will not delve into the details of these talks.” The statement reaffirmed the U.S. commitment to supporting dialogue that leads to peace and alleviates the suffering of the Sudanese people.
