Militia Abducts Women and Children from Darfur Displacement Camp

Local sources reported on Saturday that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) abducted six displaced women along with their children from Abu Shouk camp, north of El Fasher in North Darfur.

The RSF reportedly penetrated the camp, home to some 190,000 displaced persons, committing widespread violations including killings, abductions, destruction of water sources, and forced displacement.

According to reliable sources cited by Sudan Tribune, the abducted women ranged in age from 18 to 55. On Friday, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights confirmed that at least 40 displaced persons were abducted from Abu Shouk camp on 16 August, and their whereabouts remain unknown.

The UN also documented the killing of 89 civilians in El Fasher and Abu Shouk — 32 between 16 and 20 August, and 57 on 11 August — attributing these deaths to RSF attacks. The commission called for an immediate halt to these attacks, noting the humanitarian situation in El Fasher has reached a critical stage.
