Sudan Contributes to 2025 Global Report on Food Crises

Sudan participated in the 2025 Global Report on Food Crises with a high-level delegation led by Dr. Abu Bakr Omar Al-Bushra, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, along with Amira Al-Rawi, Secretary-General of the Technical Secretariat for Food Security.
In his remarks, Dr. Al-Bushra emphasized that Sudan has the agricultural resources and opportunities to secure its food needs, noting that the country’s challenge lies not in low production but in the difficulty of delivering food to populations besieged by the Rapid Support Forces.
He called on the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) to support efforts to lift the siege on El-Fasher, and expressed gratitude to production partners, particularly the World Food Programme (WFP) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), for their critical role in advancing food security.
