Sudan Signs Deal with Chinese Firm to Supply Power Transformers

The Sudanese Electricity Company has signed a contract with China’s XD Company to manufacture and supply seven large transformers of varying capacities for power generation stations in Sudan.
The agreement was signed in Cairo by Yasser Shazly, Director General of the Sudanese Transmission Company, and the Chinese firm’s Director of Development, in the presence of Sudan’s Minister of Energy, Moatasem Ibrahim.
Minister Ibrahim emphasized the importance of the transformers for stabilizing electricity supply across the country, particularly under current conditions. He stressed the need to accelerate the work process, noting that the production of such large-scale transformers takes time. He also praised Sudanese-Chinese relations, particularly in the electricity and oil sectors, describing the energy partnership as strong, mutually beneficial, and rooted in past successful cooperation in petroleum.
The general manager of XD pledged to fast-track the production process given the critical importance of the transformers for Sudan.
Meanwhile, Abdullah Ahmed Mohamed Ali, Director of Sudan Electricity Company, noted that the transformers would help solve challenges in transmitting power from generation plants to communities where displaced citizens have begun returning.
