Sudan, Russia Sign Joint Cooperation Protocol

The eighth session of the Sudan-Russia Joint Ministerial Committee for Economic and Trade Cooperation concluded Wednesday in Moscow at the Golden Ring Hotel.
The Sudanese side was headed by Minister of Minerals Nour Al-Daim Mohamed Ahmed Taha, while the Russian side was led by Alexander Kozlov, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment.
Minister Kozlov hailed the strength of Sudan-Russia ties and reaffirmed Moscow’s commitment to bolstering economic cooperation. He noted that trade exchange between the two countries had recently increased by 92%, attributing the growth to ongoing economic engagement.
Minister Taha expressed gratitude for Russia’s support during Sudan’s critical period, commending the depth of bilateral relations. He stressed that the signed agreements and cooperation protocol would contribute significantly to reconstruction efforts following the devastation caused by militia-led conflict.
The final day included bilateral talks that highlighted cooperation in energy, oil, minerals, transport, and infrastructure. Both sides underscored the need for practical mechanisms to activate these agreements and emphasized building a strategic partnership. Russia also pledged full facilitation for public and private sector investment in Sudan, particularly during the post-war reconstruction phase.
The session concluded with the signing of a protocol on economic and trade cooperation, along with two memoranda of understanding on transport, infrastructure, and banking.
