Construction of Cities for Miners in Berber and Abu Hamed

The Governor of Nile River State, Dr. Mohamed Al-Badawi Abdel-Majid, announced plans to establish residential cities for the families of martyrs in Atbara and Shendi. He noted that the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, General Mohamed Osman Al-Hussein, will lay the foundation stone for these projects.

Speaking during the state government council meeting on Thursday in Al-Damer, the governor stated that the new cities would be planned according to international standards, designed to avoid the problems of older urban areas, and enhanced with aesthetic features to meet the needs of modern cities.

He further revealed that specialized residential cities will also be built for miners in the localities of Berber and Abu Hamed. These, too, will adhere to international planning standards, with a focus on vertical construction — a model expected to deliver significant benefits, particularly in terms of service provision.

The governor emphasized that all building designs, whether for private residences, public institutions, or private-sector investment projects, must first be approved by the state’s planning committee.
