Prime Minister: Ready to Develop Partnership with South Sudan

Prime Minister Dr. Kamel Idris met on Sunday in Port Sudan with a delegation from South Sudan headed by Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Mundaya Simaya Kumba. The meeting was attended by Sudan’s Minister of Energy and Oil, Al-Mutasim Ibrahim, and Police Chief General Amir Abdel Moneim.

Discussions focused on bilateral relations and ways to strengthen cooperation in political, economic, security, energy, and oil sectors to serve the common interests of both nations and their peoples.

The Prime Minister affirmed the “Hope Government’s” keenness to deepen cooperation and integration with South Sudan, praising the historical ties and mutual interests between the two countries and efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.

For his part, the South Sudanese Foreign Minister conveyed President Salva Kiir Mayardit’s greetings to the Sudanese Prime Minister and expressed Juba’s appreciation for Khartoum’s supportive stance toward peace efforts. He also reiterated his country’s desire to expand cooperation, particularly in energy, oil, and trade.

Dr. Idris confirmed his government’s readiness to further develop the partnership with South Sudan in a way that serves the interests of both peoples and strengthens peace and stability in both countries and the wider region.
