Sudan’s Sixth Infantry Division in North Darfur announced that it had conducted special military operations in the city of Al-Fashir, successfully seizing several advanced defensive positions.
In an official statement, the division said its forces had “inflicted heavy losses on the enemy in personnel and equipment, captured fully equipped combat vehicles, and destroyed six others, including armored carriers.”
According to the statement, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia launched an attack on the city from the southern axis at around 11:00 p.m. on Monday, but the army successfully repelled the assault, inflicting severe casualties.
The army further stated that the attack involved “a group of mercenaries who had been imprisoned by Hemedti’s forces for murder charges, released, armed, and deployed to fight in Al-Fashir.” Most of them were reportedly killed, while others fled the battlefield.
The statement added that the latest operations included “precision strikes that achieved significant objectives within enemy strongholds,” and confirmed the army’s full control of the situation, maintaining “high morale and complete initiative.”
