Plan to Secure Mining Sector and Curb Gold Smuggling

Minister of Minerals, Nour Al-Daem Taha, announced his ministry’s intention to finalize preparations for a clear strategic plan to secure the mining sector and its operating companies, and to reduce gold smuggling by enhancing security coordination and deploying new forces to support the Mining Security Police and the Economic Minerals Security Agency.

During an extensive meeting at the General Directorate of Mining Security Police — attended by the ministry’s undersecretary, Hind Siddiq Adam, the director of the Geological Research Authority, Legal Advisor Ahmed Haroun Al-Toum, and senior police officials — the minister emphasized the need for joint forces to execute their assigned duties with efficiency and commitment, in accordance with the laws governing the protection of mineral resources and safeguarding the national economy.

For his part, Police Major General Salah Al-Din Adam, Director of the Mining Security Police, noted that the administration faces major challenges in implementing programs and operational plans due to the current security and political circumstances. He reaffirmed his commitment to direct supervision of the joint forces deployed to carry out field operations.
