Sudan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the international community is increasingly ignoring the genocide carried out by the Rapid Support Forces against certain communities in Sudan, including El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur.
In a statement, the ministry condemned the massacre that killed 57 civilians in El Fasher on Saturday, calling it part of the RSF’s ongoing crimes in Sudan.
The statement continued: “The Rapid Support Forces seek the mass extermination of IDPs and civilians in El Fasher and have continued committing massacres, including the bombing of the Dar Al-Arqam shelter, which killed 57 civilians, including 17 children, 22 women, and 18 elderly people.”
The ministry urged the UN and the Security Council to fulfill their responsibilities, confront the RSF and its backers, and implement Resolution 2736 of 2024, which demands the lifting of the siege on El Fasher.
The statement called on international and regional actors to take concrete measures to halt the supply of weapons and mercenaries to the RSF and to hold its leaders and members accountable for these atrocities.
It also stressed the importance of supporting the Sudanese government’s efforts to end the suffering of civilians in El Fasher and other cities besieged or occupied by the Rapid Support Forces.
