Energy Ministry Signs MoU with Russian Institute in Oil and Gas Sector

The Ministry of Energy and Petroleum signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Russian Institute for Oil and Gas Technology Initiatives on the sidelines of Russian Energy Week, held from October 15 to 17.
The MoU was signed by Eng. Mohamed Awad Al-Khair Mohamed Saleh on behalf of the Sudanese ministry and Mr. Nikolai Kuznetsov, Director-General of the Russian institute.
The agreement aims to enhance cooperation in the areas of standards and specifications for the energy and oil sectors, conformity assessment, and commercial activities related to the oil and gas industry.
The signing ceremony was attended by Minister of Energy and Petroleum Eng. Al-Mutasim Ibrahim, Sudan’s Ambassador to the Russian Federation Mohamed Al-Ghazali Siraj, and several representatives from the ministry.
Under the MoU, both parties will establish joint committees to implement required standards and assess international conformity in the energy and oil sectors. The Sudanese ministry’s committee will also liaise with the Russian side to prepare joint proposals on developing standards and conformity systems in the oil and gas industry.
This agreement marks a positive step toward Russian participation in developing Sudan’s standards systems, and emphasizes the importance of technical cooperation and training for Sudanese engineers and technicians in this vital field.
