A Sudanese refugee was killed in Adré Camp in eastern Chad after being sexually assaulted, in a crime that has sparked widespread shock and anger among refugees and the local community.
Sources told Darfur24 on Saturday that the woman’s body was found by the roadside. Preliminary investigations by Chadian authorities revealed that she had been strangled with a rope, and forensic examinations confirmed that she was sexually assaulted before being killed.
The victim, reportedly in her fifties, worked near Adré Central Hospital and was attacked on her way to work early in the morning.
Chadian authorities have launched a full investigation and pledged to take all necessary legal measures to uncover the circumstances of the crime and bring those responsible to justice.
