Egypt: We Will Continue Our Efforts to Achieve Stability in Sudan

Sudanese Foreign Minister Ambassador Mohy Al-Din Salem Ahmed met with his Egyptian counterpart, Dr. Badr Abdel Aaty, on the sidelines of the Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development.

Minister Mohy Al-Din expressed his pleasure in attending the forum, describing it as a unique platform for promoting dialogue and partnerships among nations. He thanked Egypt for its continued support of Sudan’s government and reiterated Khartoum’s hopes for sustained assistance in rebuilding state institutions ahead of the reconstruction phase.

For his part, the Egyptian Foreign Minister affirmed Egypt’s commitment to supporting Sudan’s stability, unity, and sovereignty, emphasizing its active engagement in efforts to end the war.

He also welcomed the upcoming Second Egypt–Sudan Business Forum later this year and the convening of the Joint Trade Committee in Cairo, as well as Egypt’s readiness to share its investment expertise with a visiting Sudanese technical delegation.

Minister Abdel Aaty highlighted Egypt’s plans to help restore Khartoum’s infrastructure, including rehabilitation projects for the Halfaya and Shambat bridges. He also expressed Egypt’s willingness to assist in the recovery of Sudan’s electricity, water, health, and education sectors.

The meeting also touched upon water security, with both ministers reaffirming the two countries’ common position as downstream states of the Nile River and their shared commitment to full compliance with international law governing the Eastern Nile Basin.
