Sudan, China Discuss Stronger Mining Cooperation

Sudan’s Minister of Minerals stated that the country has recently faced conspiracies targeting its strategic resources, but that the situation is now improving and stability is increasing.

During bilateral talks with Xu Dajun, Vice Minister of Natural Resources of the People’s Republic of China, on the sidelines of the China Mining Conference 2025 in Tianjin, the minister said that the improved conditions make Sudan’s investment environment more attractive for Chinese partners in geological mapping, exploration, manufacturing, and advanced technologies.

For his part, Xu Dajun affirmed China’s desire to enhance cooperation with Sudan and to implement existing agreements and memoranda of understanding in the mining sector. He also emphasized expanding geological and mineral exploration, technology transfer, and investment.

Both sides agreed to establish a joint technical mechanism to strengthen cooperation and develop Sudan’s mining sector through research support and technology exchange, ensuring optimal utilization of the country’s valuable and rare mineral resources.

Separately, the Minister of Minerals met with the President and members of the China Mining Association, praising their role in promoting Sudan’s mining potential and attracting Chinese investment to the sector. He reaffirmed his ministry’s commitment to providing a conducive environment for investors in a way that serves both nations’ interests.

The association’s president expressed readiness to leverage its resources and connections to bolster cooperation with Sudan, exchange expertise and technology, and attract Chinese companies eager to invest in Sudan’s mining industry.
