Sudan Airways to Double Its Fleet

Sudan Airways’ Regional Director in Egypt, Haitham Al-Tayeb Mohamedin, announced that the national carrier will double its fleet next month with the addition of two new Airbus A320 aircraft to its existing four-plane lineup.

In statements to Asharq, Mohamedin explained that the planes were purchased with an advance payment, with the remaining balance to be settled through a letter of guarantee. The move is part of a broader expansion plan aimed at strengthening the company’s presence in the regional market and improving air transport services between Sudan and Egypt.

He added that the airline is studying the possibility of operating two daily flights between Khartoum and Cairo instead of one, in response to rising demand and a current load factor of around 80% on the route.

The expansion comes as Sudan Airways seeks to reclaim its leading position in the aviation sector and broaden its regional and international route network amid growing travel demand driven by ongoing political and economic developments in both countries.
