Sudan–Egypt Business Council: Reconstruction of Sudan a Top Priority

Chairman of the Sudan–Egypt Business Council, Joseph Makin, affirmed that Sudan’s reconstruction is a top priority, describing the current forum as the beginning of a new phase in rebuilding the country.
Speaking during the second preparatory workshop titled “Implementation Mechanisms for Reconstruction and Logistical Connectivity between Sudan and Egypt” on Monday, Makin stressed that reconstruction requires revitalizing the agriculture and industrial sectors.
He added, “The prosperity of trade and the expansion of investments must be linked to transportation networks such as ports and border crossings,” emphasizing the importance of integrated storage facilities.
Makin noted that the forum represents a new phase based on the shared interests of the peoples of the Nile Valley, reaffirming the council’s commitment to making this initiative a new starting point for Sudan’s reconstruction.
Meanwhile, Northern State Governor Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Abdulhamid Ibrahim called for the establishment of a national reconstruction fund to be managed transparently under the joint supervision of the state, civil society, and Sudanese expatriates.
He highlighted that Northern State offers numerous investment opportunities — including modern agriculture, solar energy, mining, tourism, and logistical corridors with Egypt to export agricultural products.
