Cabinet Discusses Indicative Plan for the 2026 Winter Season

The technical committees of the ministerial sectors in the Council of Ministers held a meeting on Tuesday in Port Sudan, chaired by Ali Mohamed Ali, Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers.
The meeting reviewed the performance report of the 2025–2026 summer agricultural season and discussed the indicative plan for the 2026 winter season presented by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation. The report covered cultivated areas across rain-fed and irrigated sectors and highlighted key challenges and solutions to increase production and productivity.
The report recommended adopting modern technologies in production processes to improve product quality for better marketing both domestically and internationally. It also emphasized the importance of timely provision of agricultural inputs to ensure a successful farming season.
The meeting further heard a report from the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Communications on proposed regulations for the use of social media platforms by individuals and institutions to ensure safe and professional practices, combat cybercrimes, and curb the spread of fake news and misinformation that threaten national security and social stability.
Additionally, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy briefed the meeting on the current status of electricity and fuel supplies, noting the ministry’s efforts to restore power across Khartoum State. He confirmed that all power stations have been reconnected, with ongoing work to address technical issues in electricity lines and maintain stable fuel distribution despite the country’s many challenges.
The meeting commended the Ministry of Energy and all relevant authorities for their continued efforts in these vital sectors.
