Nathaniel Raymond, Director of the Humanitarian Research Lab at Yale University, criticized recent European calls for a ceasefire in El Fasher, describing them as “ineffective and meaningless” amid ongoing massacres against civilians.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Raymond said European joint statements fall short of the gravity of the crisis, adding that Sudanese civilians need “real measures, not diplomatic theater.”
He urged European governments to impose consequences on the UAE unless it withdraws RSF forces from El Fasher immediately and allows UN and ICRC access to the city. Continued condemnation without binding action, he warned, only encourages further violations.
Raymond called on Europe to assume its moral and political responsibility in the face of an unfolding humanitarian catastrophe.
