Chadian authorities have arrested Youssef Ezzat, the former advisor to the commander of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), according to family sources who spoke to Sudan Tribune.
The sources reported that Ezzat was detained on October 11 along with two others in the Chadian town of Adré, which he had visited to see his ailing mother.
They added that Chadian authorities later transferred him to N’Djamena without allowing him to contact his family or providing any explanation for his detention.
Family sources have called on the Chadian government to release Ezzat or clarify the reasons for his arrest.
Ezzat had reportedly traveled from the United Arab Emirates to Chad, then to Saudi Arabia, before returning again to N’Djamena.
