Growing Sudanese Demand for Russian Petroleum Products

Russia’s Ambassador to Sudan, Andrey Chernovol, affirmed the continued commercial cooperation between Moscow and Khartoum in agriculture and energy, despite the international sanctions imposed on both nations.

In an interview with RIA Novosti, Chernovol explained that Sudan continues to import grains, oils, and fertilizers from Russia annually, noting a significant rise in Sudanese demand for Russian petroleum products, particularly after the shutdown of the country’s only oil refinery.

He added that a large portion of these supplies is delivered through intermediary countries due to restrictions on direct trade between the two nations, ensuring the steady flow of vital commodities to Sudan.

This growing cooperation highlights the resilience of Sudan-Russia economic relations and underscores Moscow’s pivotal role in supporting Sudan’s food and energy security amid ongoing geopolitical challenges.
