Hilda Faustmann, head of the European Parliamentary Group on Africa, described the situation in Al-Fashir as dire and confirmed that Europe will not turn a blind eye.
Sudan’s ambassador to Brussels, Abdel-Baqi Kabeer, met with Faustmann on Friday to brief her on the latest developments in Sudan and to report on the ethnic cleansing and systematic killings by the RSF during its recent incursion into Al-Fashir.
Kabeer expressed dissatisfaction with a statement from the European Commission’s Vice President for External Relations, Kaya Kallas, and Commissioner for Equality and Crisis Management, Lahabib, which described the crimes as horrific but did not explicitly condemn the RSF.
He called on the European Parliamentary Group to issue a formal resolution explicitly condemning the crimes in Al-Fashir and other areas and holding the RSF and its backers accountable.
