“Geology” Announces Positive Updates on the Nubian Sandstone Project

Sudan’s General Authority for Geological Research announced that a senior official held a meeting with the Minister of Infrastructure and Urban Development in Gedaref State to enhance coordination between the two sides and improve the efficiency of geological and mineral work in the state.
In a statement issued Wednesday, the authority revealed that the technical studies for the Nubian Sandstone Project have been completed, and the project is now approaching its final stages. It also noted that the process of purchasing cutting machines is nearing completion, signaling the start of actual implementation in the coming period.
Geology Consultant Az Al-Arab Saeed Al-Dukhri, Director of the Authority’s branch offices, met with the Minister of Infrastructure Hassan Taj Al-Din Alis, in the presence of Abdel Moneim Hamrour, Director of the Quarry and Geological Studies Department, and Bashir Hamad Hamid, Director of the Gedaref branch office.
During the meeting, the minister stressed the importance of strengthening institutional coordination and instructed the preparation of a detailed report on mineral resources in the state to support infrastructure and urban development plans.
Officials from the authority said they requested the inclusion of geological office representatives in key state committees—such as the Quarry Committee, Planning Committee, Economic Committee, and Strategic Planning Committee—to enhance the authority’s participation in resource-related decision-making.
