Joint Force Formed to Secure the Agricultural Season and Prevent Smuggling in Gedaref

The Acting Wali of Gedaref State, Lieutenant General Mohamed Ahmed Hassan, directed the joint force responsible for securing the agricultural season to work on strengthening and expanding security, enforcing the state’s authority, and preventing the smuggling of agricultural crops outside the state’s borders. He also instructed the force to combat all types of drugs, which have seen a significant increase recently, especially in border areas.
While addressing the joint force on Wednesday at the State Police Headquarters—attended by members of the government and the State Security Committee—the Wali said this force is tasked with protecting agricultural areas and is accompanied by a technical committee assigned to conduct a comprehensive agricultural survey to document cultivated areas and crop types.
For his part, the Chief of Gedaref State Police, Lieutenant General Al-Tayeb Al-Tijani Saif Al-Nasr, reassured farmers that the joint force is fully prepared to secure the harvest season according to a security plan developed by all components of the State Security Committee.
He noted that the force is also responsible for preventing conflicts between farmers and herders, stopping theft and looting in agricultural projects, and combating crop smuggling.
Meanwhile, Engineer Ammar Abdullah Suleiman, Director-General of the Ministry of Production and Economic Resources, praised the initiative of the Wali and the State Security Committee to form the joint force to secure the agricultural season.
He added that the force will assist technical committees conducting the comprehensive agricultural survey to successfully complete their tasks, noting that the survey will provide an accurate database of agricultural areas and crop types—supporting informed planning for national food security.
