Preparations for the Groundbreaking of Reference Laboratories for Geological Research

The Governor of River Nile State, Dr. Mohamed Al-Badawi Abdelmajed Abu Qroon, received on Sunday the Minister of Minerals, Nour Al-Daem Taha, at the start of an official visit aimed at reviewing the progress of mining activities in the state.

The minister was accompanied by Ahmed Haroun Al-Tom, Director-General of the General Authority for Geological Research, along with a high-level delegation from the ministry and relevant agencies, including Issam Babiker, Director of the General Administration for Financial and Human Resources. The visit’s agenda includes monitoring performance and reviewing the sector’s efforts in supporting the national economy.

This visit comes as part of an assessment of production operations and a review of the mining sector across Sudan’s states, as well as to enhance coordination between the central authorities and the state, in preparation for creating a more advanced and efficient working environment in mining and geological services. These efforts are part of the ongoing arrangements to launch the Reference Laboratories Project for Geological Research in the state.

During the visit, Minister Nour Al-Daem Taha is expected to lay the foundation stone for the reference laboratories, which are considered among the largest mining facilities in River Nile State. The laboratories will include all sample preparation departments and specialized labs.

This project represents a strategic step in rebuilding the laboratory infrastructure of the authority after the destruction of the central laboratories in Khartoum due to the war, marking the beginning of a proper path toward enhancing geological research capabilities and analytical services in Sudan.
