Large Quantities of Crystal Meth and Heroin Seized; Jibril Praises Anti-Smuggling Forces

Minister of Finance Dr. Jibril Ibrahim reviewed a major seizure of drugs, weapons, and Thuraya satellite phones carried out by the Anti-Smuggling Department of the Customs Authority in the Red Sea State, in coordination with the General Intelligence Service. The operation led to the arrest of a criminal network at sea aboard a boat carrying 400 kilograms of crystal meth, 2 kilograms of heroin, two Kalashnikov rifles, 188 rounds of ammunition, and a Thuraya communication device.
During his field visit on Wednesday to the Anti-Smuggling Transit Headquarters in Port Sudan, the minister praised the efforts of the Customs Forces in protecting the economy and safeguarding society from the dangers of drug and arms smuggling, and the resulting security and health threats to youth and families, as well as the negative impact on the national economy and the waste of resources.
He described drug trafficking as an ongoing challenge that requires cooperation among countries to combat it. The minister pledged to support the Customs Forces by providing all necessary equipment and resources to strengthen their oversight role in protecting the economy and society.
