Al-Ahly vs. Raja Casablanca Clash Dominates Attention in CAF Champions League

The Moroccan-Egyptian showdown between Al-Ahly and host Raja Casablanca is attracting the most attention in the second round of the group stage of the CAF Champions League, which will be held at Prince Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat on Friday as part of Group B.
This round comes just before a nearly two-month competition break due to the Africa Cup of Nations, which Morocco will host from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
The two teams have met only once in continental competitions, facing each other in the 2006 CAF Super Cup, which ended with an Egyptian victory on penalties.
Al-Ahly arrives in Rabat aiming to secure all three points after last week’s 4-1 win over Algerian side JS Kabylie, maintaining their top spot in the group.
The Egyptian side is dealing with a series of injuries that complicate Danish coach Jes Thorup’s plans, with goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shenawy, defenders Mostafa Al-Ash, Hussein El-Shahat, and winger Ahmed Abdelkader confirmed absent. Meanwhile, Raja Casablanca is also missing key players, including striker Hamza Khaba due to suspension. Despite this, the Moroccan team aims to rebound after losing their opening match against Tanzanian side Young Africans.
