Central Bank Announces Resumption of Operations in Khartoum

The Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan, Dr. Amna Mirghani Al-Toum, announced during her meeting with the Governor of Khartoum State on Monday that the bank will resume operations from within Khartoum to support banking services.
She noted that employees would return during December and that a new branch would be opened in the state.

She further explained that the Central Bank is working to allocate a site for establishing a branch of the Microfinance Institution in Khartoum, while also developing supportive policies to facilitate microfinance opportunities.

For his part, Khartoum Governor Ahmed Othman Hamza praised the Central Bank’s efforts in supporting the national economy. He urged the bank to prioritize infrastructure projects and support the state’s efforts in rehabilitating major service facilities.

He affirmed the state government’s readiness to provide full support to the Central Bank to encourage other commercial banks to return and resume activities, which would enhance the investment climate and economic recovery.
