Sudan Events – Rehab Abdullah

The Ministry of Finance signed, via virtual meeting on Tuesday, an agreement to reschedule Sudan’s debt owed to the Arab Monetary Fund, with repayments spread over 25 years.

Sudan’s Minister of Finance, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, signed on behalf of the Sudanese government, while the Fund’s Director General and Chairman, Dr. Fahd Al-Turki, signed on behalf of the AMF, in the presence of the Ministry’s Undersecretary for Planning and technical officials.

Dr. Jibril affirmed the government’s commitment to the terms of the agreement, praising the Fund’s role in supporting vulnerable groups in Sudan. He emphasized the importance of the agreement, describing it as a significant service to small producers, noting that any deductions from the Fund’s projects directly impact these producers.

Dr. Fahd Al-Turki described the agreement as a fundamental pillar in the Fund’s relationship with Sudan and in sustaining its long-term strategy. He reaffirmed the Fund’s role as a strategic partner to Sudan in providing financial facilities, technical assistance, and training.
