Arrangements Underway to Hold Turkish–Sudanese Business Forum in Al-Jazirah State

Minister of Industry and Trade, Mahasin Ali Yaqoub, affirmed the depth and strength of relations between Sudan and Turkey, announcing preparations to hold a Turkish–Sudanese business forum in Al-Jazirah State in the near future. The forum aims to support and enhance sustainable partnerships in the industrial and commercial sectors.

During her meeting with Turkish Ambassador Fatih Yildiz at her office in Port Sudan, the minister discussed avenues of economic cooperation and ways to further develop them, with a particular focus on increasing Turkish investments in Sudan, especially in the industrial sector. She noted that the anticipated forum is expected to bring about a significant leap in Sudan’s industrial sector, particularly in agro-processing, where Sudan enjoys clear comparative advantages.

The minister also pointed out that the ministry plans to benefit from Turkey’s substantial industrial capabilities in implementing post-war reconstruction programs. She added that the resumption of the Turkish commercial attaché’s activities, the opening of the Turkish Agricultural Bank, and the return of Turkish Airlines flights to Sudan all reflect Ankara’s commitment to strengthening economic cooperation with Khartoum.

For his part, the ambassador revealed preparations to organize an exhibition for Turkish industrial products in Sudan in the coming period. Both sides also agreed to arrange visits by Sudanese state governors to Turkey to explore its industrial experience, particularly in small-scale industries, and to form a joint task force to organize the forum and the accompanying exhibition.
