Central Bank of Sudan Issues New Import Regulations

The Central Bank of Sudan has issued new regulations governing imports, requiring clients to submit both the customs certificate and the import certificate within one month from the date of issuing the electronic import form (IM).
The directive also requires banks to notify the Central Bank’s Foreign Exchange Department of clients who fail to comply. Non-compliant clients will receive an immediate warning, and after one month, will be barred from importing until they regularize their status by submitting the required documents.
The decision mandates a review of all import forms in the electronic export-import system starting June 1, 2024, identifying forms listed as “available to customs.” The review must be completed within five working days.
Clients whose forms remain in “available to customs” status will be warned and required to submit the necessary customs and import certificates within one month. Failure to comply will result in a ban from importing. Banks must submit the names of non-compliant clients to the Central Bank in an attached Excel file.
