Customs: Committed to Providing Anti-Smuggling Support

The Director-General of the Customs Forces, Lt. Gen. Salah Ahmed Ibrahim, arrived in Wadi Halfa accompanied by Maj. Gen. Mohammed Al-Nour Ali Al-Nour, Assistant Director-General for Customs Operations, Maj. Gen. (Legal) Jamal Al-Awad Al-Amin, Assistant Director-General for Anti-Smuggling, along with several senior customs officials. The official visit aims to review operations at Wadi Halfa Customs and its Anti-Smuggling Branch.
The delegation received an official welcome at the city entrance from customs personnel, security forces, and local dignitaries. Among those who welcomed the delegation were the locality’s executive director, Col. Ahmed Omar Mahjoub, Director of Wadi Halfa Customs, and leaders of the local popular resistance committees.
The Director-General held a meeting with customs and anti-smuggling officers in Wadi Halfa, during which he delivered a comprehensive briefing on the crucial role of customs in supporting the national economy. He praised the outstanding performance of Wadi Halfa Customs and the Anti-Smuggling Force, stressing that customs is a long-standing institution led by capable officers. He urged officers to remain well-versed in the Customs Act and to pass down experience to junior officers to ensure continuity in improving operations.
Lt. Gen. Salah highlighted key legal provisions and emphasized that employee satisfaction is central to development plans. He also reviewed the significant progress made in the anti-smuggling development plan, much of which was achieved during 2024.
Maj. Gen. Mohammed Al-Nour provided an update on customs operations across the states, stressing the importance of coordination among customs departments to enhance field performance.
Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. (Legal) Jamal Al-Awad outlined the legal risks associated with smuggling, describing it as one of the most dangerous crimes that burdens the state. He noted the challenges posed by the ongoing conflict with militias, affirming the commitment of customs leadership and the government to providing the necessary resources to support anti-smuggling efforts.
Col. Ahmed Omar Mahjoub presented an overview of Wadi Halfa Customs operations, detailing challenges and needs for improving the work environment. Lt. Col. Saif Al-Din Abdulkarim delivered a detailed report on anti-smuggling efforts, available resources, and obstacles faced.
The meeting concluded with Wadi Halfa Customs presenting a Shield of Appreciation to the Director-General in recognition of his continuous support and efforts to enhance customs operations.
