Sudanese Declare Full Support for the Army, Call for Militia to Be Designated a “Terrorist Organization”

Sudanese states and Sudanese communities abroad witnessed mass demonstrations on Saturday as part of the “National Day of Rallying Behind the Armed Forces,” called for by popular resistance committees across the country.

The marches came to reaffirm support for the Sudanese Armed Forces in their war against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia and its backers, under the slogan “One Army, One People.”

Large crowds poured into city squares across Sudan to express solidarity with the army in its battle against what they described as aggression against the country. Massive rallies were reported in River Nile State, the Red Sea State, Kassala, Northern State, Gedaref, Sennar, Khartoum, North Kordofan, and Al-Jazira. Demonstrators chanted “One Army, One People,” raised slogans rejecting negotiations with the militia, and denounced what they described as Emirati interference in Sudan.

Protesters demanded that the RSF be designated a terrorist organization.

Participants also reiterated their rejection of talks with what they termed the “rebellious militia,” stressing their refusal of the Quadrilateral Mechanism so long as the United Arab Emirates remains part of it, accusing Abu Dhabi of continuing to support the militia with mercenaries and military equipment. They called on the army to press ahead with the fight until the Janjaweed militia is eliminated.

Speakers at the rallies urged the international community to condemn what they described as genocide committed by the militia in Darfur and Al-Jazira, saying RSF elements had been largely defeated and that the group now relies on foreign mercenaries.
