Draft Public Finance Law Nears Completion

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, Abdullah Ibrahim, has revealed that the ministry has prepared a draft Public Finance Law, noting that the document is in its final stages and nearing completion after fulfilling all required preparation benchmarks in line with the public finance reform roadmap agreed with the World Bank mission since 2021. This, he said, ensures the draft’s consistency with internationally recognized standards in the field.

In a press statement on Sunday, the undersecretary explained that the draft was discussed and consulted on with national experts possessing extensive practical experience in public finance. Consultations were also held with specialists from the IMF’s Middle East Technical Assistance Center (METAC), and the draft incorporated observations from the International Monetary Fund throughout its preparation stages.

He praised the drafting team drawn from the Ministry of Finance, relevant entities, and national experts, describing the outcome as unprecedented work that reflects the competence and capabilities of Sudanese cadres and their deep understanding of public finance challenges and reform requirements.
