Gezira Governor: State Capable of Supporting the Economy and Securing Food for Sudan

Gezira State Governor Al-Tahir Ibrahim Al-Khair inspected agricultural operations at the Rahad Agricultural Scheme, reviewing the growth of cotton crops and ongoing harvest preparations.
During a field tour, the governor affirmed that the state is well positioned to support the national economy and ensure food security for all of Sudan. He noted that the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation has committed to maintaining and rehabilitating irrigation canals, calling for greater focus on value addition to agricultural products and the development of agro-processing industries.
Farmer Mustafa Ahmed Al-Faki said that the governor’s support, particularly in providing diesel fuel for the repair of irrigation canal breaches, contributed significantly to the success of the agricultural season. He added that there are positive indicators and promising signs of high productivity in cotton and sunflower crops.
He attributed this productivity to the stability achieved, expressing appreciation for the sacrifices of the armed forces, supporting forces, and the state government.
