An Egyptian Vision for Achieving Industrial Integration With Sudan

Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir, affirmed that the Egyptian state attaches the highest importance to strengthening cooperation with Sudan and providing all forms of support in the industrial and commercial fields to achieve sustainable development and prosperity for the two brotherly peoples.
During his meeting on Tuesday with Sudan’s Minister of Industry and Trade, Mahasin Ali Yagoub, Al-Wazir presented the Egyptian Ministry of Industry’s vision for achieving industrial integration with Sudan. The vision is based on leveraging Sudan’s raw materials and available labor to establish joint industrial projects that increase value addition and support the economies of both countries.
The vision includes:
Livestock and Leather Sector: A proposal to establish automated slaughterhouses and advanced tanneries in Sudan, inspired by successful Egyptian models in Chad and Tanzania, to maximize economic returns from Sudanese meat and leather.
Pharmaceutical Industries: Exploring opportunities to establish specialized factories for producing veterinary medicines in Sudan, in coordination with the Pharmaceutical Industry Chamber.
Fertilizer Sector: Preparing feasibility studies to establish fertilizer plants on Sudanese territory in cooperation with the Fertilizer Industry Chamber, supporting agricultural development and enhancing industrial integration between the two countries.
The minister expressed the Ministry of Industry’s readiness to mobilize all capabilities of its affiliated bodies to support the Sudanese side, particularly in vocational training and human capacity building through the Productivity and Vocational Training Authority, as well as leveraging the expertise of technological centers to provide technical support across all stages of manufacturing. He also noted the provision of specialized training programs through the General Authority for Standards and Quality in line with international standards.
Al-Wazir further emphasized the importance of integrating Sudanese partners into Egypt’s exhibition ecosystem by allocating permanent exhibition spaces for the Sudanese side to showcase production visions and ideas, thereby highlighting available opportunities and deepening trade cooperation with Sudan’s business community.
