Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation Resumes Operations from Khartoum

On Saturday, the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation bid farewell to the first group of employees from Red Sea State heading to Khartoum State, following the handover of the ministry’s new headquarters. This step comes in implementation of the Council of Ministers’ decision to relocate government ministries from the temporary administrative capital, Port Sudan, to Khartoum State.

Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Prof. Issmat Qirshi, praised the role played by ministry staff in Red Sea State in ensuring the success of what he described as the “greatest battle”—the battle of production—expressing pride in leading this agricultural cadre.

He stated that the Government of Hope places agriculture at the top of its priorities, thanking state ministers of production and irrigation scheme managers for their efforts in ensuring the success of both summer and winter agricultural seasons. He also commended the irrigation sector and its achievements, affirming that the return to Khartoum represents a challenge for increased production and a step toward agriculture and irrigation leading Sudan’s economy.
