Militia Commits Massacre in El Obeid

The Sudan Doctors Network said that a new massacre has taken place in the city of El Obeid, leaving 13 people dead, including nine members of a single family—most of them children—after the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) targeted a house with a drone in the Al-Jalabiya neighborhood, the capital of North Kordofan State.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the network strongly condemned what it described as a horrific massacre committed by the RSF in El Obeid, stressing that the targeted area is a purely civilian neighborhood with no military sites or presence. This, the statement said, makes the attack a fully constituted war crime and a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, revealing the deliberate targeting of unarmed civilians, particularly children.

The statement added that the attack reflects a dangerous escalation in the pattern of indiscriminate killings and systematic shelling of safe residential areas, with total disregard for human life. The network held the RSF fully responsible for the crime and called on the international community, as well as human rights and UN organizations, to take urgent action to stop these crimes by exerting pressure on RSF leaders to halt the killing of civilians and the targeting of residential neighborhoods.
