Russian Forces Kill Nine Sudanese Miners

Nine Sudanese nationals were killed and five others injured by Russian forces at a gold mine in the Central African Republic, as part of a series of attacks carried out by Russian Wagner Group patrols targeting Sudanese in the border areas.

Mohamed Youssef, a relative of the victims, told Darfur24 that a Russian patrol attacked a group of young Sudanese who had gone to work at gold mines in the Al-Sousal area last Sunday, resulting in the death of nine people and injuries to five others.

In a related development, Sudanese families from the border town of Um Dafuq in South Darfur State reported that Russian forces tortured two of their relatives who were returning from the “San Kilo” gold mine in the Andaha area on Monday.

One family member told Darfur24 that Russian forces tortured two relatives from the town of Aburi and amputated their fingers, noting that the injured were transferred to a hospital in the city of Birao.
